Raise your vibration beyond resolutions and intentions

Take time for yourself.   The holidays and moving into a new year can be a wonderfully beautiful time, but it can also be a stressful and exhausting time. The past month and year can just seem like a blur. You’ve spent so much time, planning, shopping, wrapping, traveling, hosting, smiling & eating god knows what. :D You’ve got 1 week between Christmas and New Years to hurry up and figure out those resolutions, goals and intentions for the coming year, but you are still putting all of your Christmas decorations away and cleaning up...

Do you have what it takes to find your bliss?

Do you have what it takes to find your bliss?

What does it take?  I would say it takes willingness and courage. Willingness to show up consistently and the courage to feel our emotions when we do. So often people have this image in their mind that yoga is just stretching, breathing, it’s going to be easy and feel good.  And it is true, you will stretch and breath and feel good…eventually, but getting there can sometimes be surprisingly unpleasant. Why is that? Well, have you ever gone to a yoga class and loved it, but never gone back? Or cried in a yoga class and thought WTF...

Your dreams are waiting for you!

Your dreams are waiting for you!

Start before you are ready. I’m not sure who is whispering these words into my ears lately, but they keep haunting me. There are times when I feel very bold and brave and I’ll do things like quit school and move across the country to New York City.  Or travel to Italy by myself for my birthday. Or get a job as a hairstylist on Broadway, when I’ve never touched a wig before in my life.  (Yes, they ALL wear wigs on the Broadway).  But other times, I get stuck.  I want everything to be “perfect” before I start...

How to not suck at yoga!

How to not suck at yoga!

First of all, you don’t suck at yoga.  Of course, I would never say that to anyone.  :D However, often times, one of the first things people say to me when I tell them I am a yoga teacher or invite them to a class is, “I’m not very good” but what they are thinking is, “I suck.  I don’t know how to do the poses or I’m going to do them wrong, everyone else in the room is going to be better than me or be doing all of these “crazy” things that I could not and will never do!!! Baggaaaaak! So...

5 ways to get happy now!

The elusive happiness.  What does it mean and how do I get me some? Well of course it means different things to everyone.  And different things on different days, but there is a common thread that as far as I can tell never changes. What if you are a person who suffers from migraines on a regular basis?  A happy day might for you may be just not having a migraine and being able to get out of bed to face the world.  Maybe you are happiest when it’s just you and nature and you’re out climbing a breathtaking rockface or surfing in...

5 ways to practice yoga without lifting a yogi toe

When people hear the word yoga, a common image that pops into many peoples mind is someone putting their leg behind their head and maybe even sucking on their toe.  Eeew! But the truth is that the physical practice of yoga is only a small part of the overall practice.  It is wonderful and important, but there is so much more. One way we can practice yoga is to look at our behavior. Below are a list small but powerful things you can do to integrate yoga into your life right now, not when all the stars line up to get to class. You may find that...

My favorite kale salad

My favorite kale salad

Kale is one of my favorite things to eat! Its’ super high in Vitamins K, A, & C.  Vitamin “K” is sometimes called the “forgotten vitamin.  It’s got like over 1000% of the daily recommend allowance of Vitamin K which is especially good for creating strong bones and preventing heart disease. Yippee! If you want to make this recipe gluten free/vegan. Just leave off the parm and breadcrumbs.  I sometimes like to add pistachio’s and avocado. Or anything you like, really! Enjoy. Ingredients 1/2 cup...

It’s not about the pose!

It’s not about the pose!

Sometime yoga can feel intimidating. You think it means you have to put your leg behind your head or do the splits or just wrap yourself up like a pretzel in general.  Yoga is a beautiful and specatacular practice. And I think it is so cool that we can move and put our bodies in these different poses…however… Just because you are doing some crazy arm balance or are doing a handstand doesn’t necessarily mean you are doing yoga. If you are not paying attention to what you are doing & how you are feeling, if your are...

I’m not flexible!

Posted by on Jan 15, 2014 in Blog | 0 comments

Good news: Yoga don’t have to be! When I tell people that I am a yoga teacher, to date, the most popuar response is; “I’m not flexible!”I would say 3 out of 5 people on average say those words to me.  So here is the other good news!  YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE!    Yoga is about awareness, paying attention and showing up.  And the cool part is that if you show up to yoga and practice being aware of yourself and how unflexible you are, you will actually become flexible.   Stretching feels boring! Stretching and...
